Books into TV and movies

Well this will probably be my last blog for awhile since I only have to do this last one this week. The class has taught me a lot but for this blog I will be talking about how TV and movies has influence more people no to read. When I was young I love to read the R.L Stine Goosebumps books. I love to be scared when I read and read and was always interested in them. However the Goosebumps show stated to come on TV and since then I gave up reading the books because it cam on TV. Goosebumps is just one example that was a good book then turn into a television series. Not just books turn into Television series but also into movies. The most recent hit movie twilight has become a movie. Twilight as most of you know was first a book them now it’s a movie. Personally I would read the book but why would I if it is already on television. But the book is a series of books so people still get to read the books because they want to know what lies ahead and what will happen to the characters in the book or movie. There a re many books that are turned into Television or movies here in a link that will tell you the books that were turn into movies by year. One of the best writers out there today is Stephen King. He has brought up many books then later on was turn into great movies. Some in his list that were turn into movies are desperation that was a TV series. Another one was Kingdom Hospital which I like in 2004. Since there are more and more books turning onto movies more people are starting to just see the movie or the television and just not read. But I do encourage parent s to tell there kids that reading the book is better them the movie.

Music with fashion

We all love music, fashion, movie games well I guess I can say the general population does but what I wanted to know is does music really affect fashion and the way we dress. Through the years music is what motivates us people and also gives us feelings that we can share to other people as well as just remember some one just because of the lyrics of the song or the beat to it. Music is everywhere around us and its also everywhere we go in our cars, house, elevators, malls just about anywhere. Fashion, personally I like fashion cause its always really cool when we see someone dress a different way then others that we think is weird then in a week a too that’s the clothes we would also wear. I see people dress just like the music videos of pop rock or country or any other genre. Music has influence me in a way that I dress because I tell myself that this looks good and so I wear it and it matches on what club I go to what type of music I will be surrounded by, so it does have an effect on me. Back when my dad was in high school he dressed a totally different way then I dress right now and I told him why? Then he said because in the 60’s and 70’s people loved The Beatles so much that they would try to look like them. So my dad used to try to be like the Beatles as well. My dad is just one example of how music has change fashion but my mom as well. My mom loves to dance and more specific loves salsa dance. Most of the time she still dresses like a salsa dancer and loves salsa music so she dresses like one. Today we all can see how music has changed our fashion just by looking at the rocker fashion with the ears pierce and the long hair with skull T-shirts. Or the rapper type fashion with long shirts and NY caps. Music and fashion do collide and make us how we dress.

Educational Safe Sex Videos

As we had talked about sex and violence on women as well as how they show themselves in music videos, I became really interested into the subject. So this week’s blog I am going to talk about how videos can influence people on having safe sex. As more and more women or young ladies are becoming pregnant as they are at a young age I do know that humor as well as education sex videos do help. Watching Sex Education videos can help young women to getting safe sex. One video that I found and thought that it had a little humor is a video called How to Have Safe Sex on how cast. The video is a little funny due to how they explain how to have safe sex with a sexual partner but they use a tea poorer for hoe to put a condom on. Some may find this funny but its still a good education video but you never want to get some kind of desease or infections or STDs or Clymedia that will eventually lead to aids. Learning how to have safe sex will help reduce the number of victems that have STDs or some other sort of desease. Also it will help reduce the number of young pregnant women that have babies. I found another video that made be explicit to viewers because there is sex and humor as well. I still think the video is educational because it good and safe to use condoms and the video helps you choose the right decision. I found the educational video on Collegehumor.com so it will have some humor on it. Many think this is not a very well educational video but if people really get the point to have safe sex it can help out the world. Having these educational sex videos talking about having safe sex is a good thing because talking about sex is important to know.

Anime

Hey, hey wazzup everybody I have decided to change my Horror Movie topic to something more Happy and Colorful. Therefore, instead of the scary frightening horror monsters I always talked about, now I am going to tell you about the best Anime cartoon story of all time. No, it is not Pokémon but its called Digimon. When I was a kid, I was always excited that Saturday was right around the corner. I still remember that Digimon would come out at 10 A.M and I would always be ready for that time. Digimon is a Japanese Anime that was turned to English. There are now 5 series of Digimon now and about 9 movies of them. I have only seen only the first two series and that is how far I have gotten. Digimon first aired in Japan on March 7, 1999 then it aired in the United States on August 14, 1999. From 1998 to 2001 were the best years of anime with Pokémon and Digimon being the best on the top ten lists. In Season, one it is all begins with 7 great kids in summer camp being chosen to be the Digi Destine. From that point on they go through many obstacles and evil monsters trying to destroy them. The Digimon evolve or transform to greater and stronger Digimon to conquer their enemies. They can only Digivolve with their partner they are with and so on. Digimon has created so much money for television in America. Season 5 started on April 2, 2006 and I was to busy to keep up with the story. When I tell someone about what is a Digimon, most of the time they will know what I am talking about. Digimon has many other promotions like toys, comics, and what I used to collect as a kid called Digimon cards.

Upcoming 2009

As I had talked about The Haunting In Connecticut on my last blog I would like to talk to you guys about the upcoming 2009 movies. The Haunting in Connecticut had come up in March and according to horror.about.com this April there would be Mutant Chronicles and Obsessed. Mutant Chronicles is more of an action movie then a horror movie and is based in the future so it is a Science fiction movie as well. Obsessed is more of a drama slashed freaky movie about a woman obsessed to a man. Coming this May 2009 there are two more horror movies that will premier in theaters. Drag me to hell looks scary and if you like to see what the movie is all about click on the link on Drag me to hell. There is also another movie called Pontypool that will come out in May as well. On June 12, 2009 there is a Norwegian flick coming out called Dead Snow. Dead Snow does not look good but who knows it might be a surprise to others. The one that is coming out also in June is called Prey. Prey is not very exciting but it’s one that can also be good and we would not know until we watch it. Also in June comes the movie Surveillance. A horrifying thriller movie based on Surveillance cameras and roads sounds freighting to me. One that does look good to me and very terrifying to see is called Orphan. Orphan comes out on July 24, 2009 and after watching the trailer, I am interested in this movie. In August the only good horror flick that will be out is the sequal movie called Final Destination Death Trip. The good thing about this movie is it comes out in 3D and I always liked Final Destination movies as well. For the next months down the road of 2009, there will be movies like Pandorum, Splice, Saw 6, and Night of the Demons and more.

PaSt WeEKeNd

Ok so let me tell you people of a sweet frightening movie I just saw this weekend. It is based on a true story that had really happened. If you like, horror and it was based on a true story then you should go watch The Haunting of Connecticut the next time you go to theaters. When I went to see the movie, I was not excited at all, I just thought it would be like just another horror flick with ghostly people coming out when you know there about to come out. However, The Haunting of Connecticut gives you frightening pops of ghostly people when you do not expect it. That is why this movie was so good to me and it had made 23 million on its opening weekend so far. The Haunting of Connecticut is one of my top 5 horror films all time because I did get scared and I was also into the movie and not bored like other ones. To tell you a little about the movie it takes place at a very old house in Connecticut. A family moves into the house with a cancer child that doctors say he will recover with no problems happening. Then he sees strange things happening to him and hallucinations as well. He discovers a small room where they would clean the bodies of dead people. The dead people try to get him to know what had happen in that house in the old times and then many things happen in the movie, but I am not going to say because you have to see it for yourself. I only recommend this movie for viewers who love to be scared and scream then laugh after they had been scared of embarrassment. Here is a quick link if you have no idea what The Haunting of Connecticut is all about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRJA3lN0xCQ

Makeup and Women

Imagine a beautiful little girl or women in your mind. Just imagine what a beautiful little girl of women can look like. Nice body good-looking eyes sexy body looks at you all sexy likes she wants. These are the type of women you can get as scary ghost or dead women in horror films. Makeup artist do a fantastic job making these beautiful women into scary ghost and haunting images that they bring onto our mind. According to Horror Movies Make Up Pictures - FunOnTheNet, one of the best makeup artist used was in the horror movie Thirteen Ghost. Thirteen Ghosts had to use many talented makeup artists to create its ghostly people that if you watch the movie you can still picture them in your mind and memories that come back and give u a Goosebumps. One other film that was good and that made a beautiful woman into not at all beautiful is the movie An American Werewolf in Paris. Julie Delpy one of the main actors in the movie is pretty. However, the professional makeup artist makes her into ugly Julie Delpy and scares many young children. The shining in 1980 was a hit with makeup and with big bucks money. The shining can be defined as a horror film because of the great makeup they use on actor Shelley Duvall. Shelley Duvall is a beautiful well figure woman but in a scene, she is a frightening terrible woman that will just haunt you. Sometimes I think how do they do the makeup really well on her good looking face, but they always find a way to bring out the extreme horror of women. There are so many horror films that use makeup and some are good but some are bad One of the best makeup ever use was on the popular film Franklinstein. As horror, still pump our hearts and show us how bad fear gets I still consider how bad it really can get. If you want to be, a makeup artist here is a tip you can use for Halloween… Makup tips

International Films

This past weekend I came across into two of the best horror movies I’ve seen in awhile. One of them is called The Orphanage, which is a Spanish made film with English subtitles, but it’s still good even if you had to read the subtitles. The other film I saw that was good was the movie called Let the right one in. Let the right one in is a Swedish film that has English subtitles as well. These two movies are two of the best international horror movies I have seen in my life and I do recommend you seeing them. According to imdp.com El Orfanato which means The Orphanage is a horror movie was taken place in Spain which was released in January in 11, 2008 that is about a place where they keep orphans and a women brings her family back to her childhood home, where she opens an orphanage for handicap children. Then later she notices that her son communicates with an invisible new friend. The son is HIV positive and the invisible friend tells him he is going to die soon. The women makes a party for the orphanage children then notices a child with a scary mask on that nobody sees but here. Then her soon disappears and she can’t find him. Then she feels the presence of other people in the house then invites parapsychologists to try to unravel the mystery. I really recommend this film to others if they want to be scared by ghostly children or just be in a suspense mode. If you are interested here is a quick clip of The Orphanage. The other good horror film I saw was called Let the right one in. This movie is taken place in Norway and was released on October 24 2008. Let the right one in is a good film if you like vampire movies. A little girl is a vampire who kills a couple of people to satisfy her hunger then becomes good friends with a little boy named Oscar. The story is sad but beautiful on how it was created. Best Norway film I’ve seen here is a small clip of Let the right one in on their website at http://www.lettherightoneinmovie.com/.

Scary movies and books

Many movies have become popular. However, other movies have not, such as not so good Japanese remake Shutter or not so good but better House of Wax. Movies are either thought of or come from a good book. Horror has come such a long way but most of horror films came from good writers such as Stephen King, Steve Niles or Richard Matheson. Some of the greatest books that are horror come from the famous Stephen King. According to mid continental public library the Horror film 1408 came from a book from Stephen King and was a good one about a frightening hotel room that was haunted. Other Horror books from Stephen King are The Boogeyman, Children of the corn, Graveyard Shift, the scary Pet Sematary and The Shining. Stephen King is one of a kind storywriter. Other great author is Steve Niles. Steve Niles wrote the story of 30 days of night. 30 days of night is a setting from Alaska where it gets night for 30 days and evil devil like humans come to town and kill them for food and fun. Richard Matheson wrote the story I Am Legend. The book came out in 1954 then it became a hit movie in 2007. On good movie that came out in 1997 called I know what you did last summer was a book by Lois Duncan that he had wrote in 1973. According to cinematical.com, one of the best films of 2008 was The Ruins. Author Scott B. Smith wrote the book and he had written the book Simple plan, which is a good movie as well. More and more movies are becoming remakes and books are becoming on screen more and more which come from bestselling authors on the market. The Ruins was a gruesome film but it was still interesting to watch. Here is a short trailer of The Ruins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKcCXyi7Pjs

Music and Sound Effects

One of the main reasons why scary movies are so scary is because of the type of music or sound effects they make during a nasty scene or a killing scene. In the movie Psycho one of the best scenes ever is when a women is about to be killed in a shower. While the killer is about to emerge to kill the women high-pitch string instruments are played while the killer does his knife strokes. Many horror movies have used high pitch instrumental scenes. According to filmsound.org the movie Jaws uses long low bass sounds which give your heart a pumping when the huge killer sharks come to get the human flesh. Ever wonder how arms and legs are broken into half or when rib just breaks into half in a horror movie. Well these noises come from the vegetable salary. For bone, cracking sounds, salary is used for those sounds. A lot of fruits and vegetables are used in horror movies to make their sounds. When a man skull is about to be crushed they used pistachio being crush on a metal plane. When bullets are being hit on a metal bar or onto a metal plate, a dog eating a dog food in a can makes those sounds. The most common music used in horror films is orchestra music. Violins and pianos are good for the music industry or horror. Here is a lovely good sound used off the soundtrack in the horror movie Ghost Ship http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGt7vg_sDLk. However, orchestra is not the only genre they use in horror movies they also use alternative rock that is my favorite kind of music. They also use heavy metal rock as a popular genre. One of the most famous sounds in horror is the three-note piano melody used in the movie Halloween. Piano is one of the good ways to get a heart pounding freighting experience. Here is an example of the sound in the movie Halloween .

How Much Horror Makes

As the remake of Friday the 13th finishes off the first weekend in theaters, how much money do you think it would have made? 10, 20 , 30 or even 40 million dollars I think Friday the 13th is going to make about 20 to 30 million but we will find out soon. Many movies have been made and some have made a lot of money but others did not make enough money, as they wanted to have. The highest Gross Movie ever made is of course is Titanic. Titanic made more than 600 million dollars and that was back in 1997. The most recent best film ever made is The Dark Knight, which made about 529 million. Horror movies are not in the top ten best gross films of all time but one made the top 30. According to movieweb.com, The Sixth Sense made 293 billion dollars in U.S gross domestic ranking. After The Sixth Sense was the 1975 hit Jaws. Jaws made an astonishing 260 million dollars and were a surprising hit from its suspenseful sharks. The Third best gross horror movie is The Exorcist. I remember when I saw the exorcist I could not sleep for days because I kept on thinking the little girl that had the demon in her. The scary scene I remember is the spider walk the little girl makes when she comes down the stairs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-4f_NMUxcY&feature=related4f_NMUxcY&feature=related . The Exorcist made a good 232 million dollars much better than The Blair Witch Project at 140 million dollars. One other movie I got really freak out in my own bed was The Ring. The Ring made 128 million dollars and after I saw that movie, I could not sleep and I always thought about that little girl in the movie that she was going to get me in my sleep. Movies have come a long way and have made millions and billions of dollars for Universal, Warner Brothers, and Fox plus other major movie companies.

Monsters and Bad Boys

As I talked about Famous actors in my last post I got interested in what kind of Horror Monsters and bad guys have been in films. Monsters from The Wolf Man to Frankenstein to today’s Predator or Aliens have created a sense of fear in movies. Bad Guys or according to best-horror-movies.com which states bad guys as “Meanies” have also gave horror movies to the next level of fear. Coming from old timers Nosferatu to Jason and Michal Meyers in today’s Theaters. Back in 1941, the Wolf Man had been created which was about a wolf man haunting Talbot Castle. The film was a hit thus then Werewolf was created in 1956. One scary monster that haunted teenage boys and girls in their sleep is Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy Krueger was the monster who haunted your fears in your dreams; he had knives in his hand and could never be killed. Nightmare on Elm Street stunned and scared people when it was released in 1987. Here a good Link of what the movie is about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQrYE97Oyf0 More monsters were created such as the movie Clover field. I personally did not like Clover field because you barely get clinches of the monster terrorizing the city and the hand held camera involvement. Going into bad boys or “meanies” in horror films my personal favorite is The Texas Chainsaw massacre rating were well for this movie which was a remake of the original one from 1974. Heres a Trailer of the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=285ImXTYdsg Jason also Michel Meyers were bad boys slasher teen movies. Jason has many movies and Michel Meyers as well. Jason or Friday the 13 is about a bad boy with a hockey mask and a giant machedy who comes from evil to kill kids from Camp Crystal Lake. Michal Meyers is about a bad boy who had a bad child life who just likes to hurt people and the feeling from what he gets from it. Without Monsters or Bad Boys in horror films I don’t think I would like movies in general.

Famous Actors in Horror Films

There are a lot famous actors making movies, but how did they start becoming famous? The answer is Horror Films. Most Famous actors and actresses start making movies with horror. An example of an actor playing in a film then he becomes famous later on is actor Jim Carrey. According to http://horror.about.com/od/horroractorsandactresses/ig/Before-They-Were-Stars/ it states that Jim Carrey played in a horror comedy movie called Once Bitten in 1989.Once Bitten was about a virgin teen that was seduce by vampires. One that I found interested to me is sexy and beautiful Jennifer Aniston. Before Jennifer was making movies and being in the popular show Friends, she made a horror movie first. Jennifer Aniston played in the movie Leprechaun, a horror movie about a little leprechaun haunting people and actor Aniston. One other fascinating Actor that I did not know that he was in a horror movie is Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt Played as a high school kid trying to avoid from being sliced and killed in the movie Cutting class in 1989. If you like to see a small preview of this slashed killing movie click this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiU3Eo6PGB0. One day if you like to become an actor, maybe you should start in a horror movie because most of the famous actors today have come from a horror flick or some sort of haunting movie. Some other actors that I could name and are famous now are Josh Harnett in Halloween H20 and Josh Holloway from lost. Josh Holloway who is famous from the hit com Lost played as a co- star in a Sci Fi movie called SabreTooth. Josh biggest row to date came from the movie SabreTooth in 2002. Here is a preview of the show SabreTooth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T3sGNNAwTA. As actors and actresses continue to make movies now we know a little of where they started.

History of Horror films

Horror films have lots of history. People like to scare other people just cause. Even as a kid we were always interested in those scary stories our elders would tell us over campfires or just at home by ourselves. We like these stories because of the rush and the adrenalin they give us making us want more and more of the story on what is going to happen next. The first monster movie is The Golem, which was made in 1915 and is about a solid clay man who starts to destroy people. The next movie was made in 1919 called The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. The Cabinet of Caligari was the first movie to make a scary setting of a maniac. The maniac film became haunting for many viewers in 1919. The next film I am going to talk about is one of my old favorite’s horror films of all time. That movie is called Nosferatu. Nosferatu became popular in 1922 and was the first vampire movie. It became some sort of movie just like the movie we know, as Dracula here is a link where u can watch a clip of Nosferatu YouTube - Nosferatu (1922) Trailer . Horror began to become more popular in the 1930’s with popular movies coming out like Dracula in 1931 and Frankenstein in 1931 as well. Other movies that came out are the Mummy, Freaks, King Kong, The Bride of Frankenstein and Mad scientist according to horrorfimhistory.com. As films began to become more and more popular so were ideas as well. The forties kicked of with wolf movies and cat movies. Then in the fiftys there were movies made from creatures. In the 1960 a popular film called Psycho became one of scariest psycho killers of all time. As movies became better and horror became more realistic getting to watch a movie at these days are good.

Horror films

Horror films have given people an exciting and scary feeling. These feelings can occur in movie theaters, people houses, or in your own house. The definition of horror films are unsettling films design to frighten and panic, cause dread and alarm, and to invoke our hidden worst fears. Thats according to http://www.filmsite.org/horrorfilms.html. These films make our heart beat faster, and at the same time were so interested on whats gonna pop out on the tv screen or whats gonna come at us. Ive been watching horror films since I can remember. I really like watching these films because im always interested on what is gonna happen next on the film. Horror films often go to there darkside, a side where evil comes loose. Watching scary creatures or even old ladies coming at you is a very scary feeling. I like the fact how directors can make something that your comfortable at, then making that scene into a scary one. Some examples are like in your bedroom or in the shower. Scenes such as the movie Phyco where the killer is about to kill a girl in the shower made me feel that even in the safest places you can be killed at anytime and anywhere. Watching that movie made me feel how frightning a movie can become into. Now that i have watch so many horror movies i know many that are good and also many that are not. Horror films have been set since the past 100 years when we started to see scary shadows and aslo think of ghost in our minds. But what horror films have become now they keep on getting better and better. Making our minds and heart beat faster and faster i really like that feeling, just like a roller coaster ride.
